Finnish Design Takes Over Madrid.
Helsinki Madrid FinDesign, the main exhibition for Finnish Design Month
in Madrid, will take place at the Contemporary Art Center in Matadero.
The varied and interactive exhibition will have several hundred
products from Finnish companies and designers, representing many
different design areas and viewpoints. On display is a wide selection
of contemporary Finnish design; architecture, interior design,
furniture, interior design objects, industrial design, graphic design,
fashion and advertising. The exhibition is a result of collaborative
work by Finns and Spaniards from Helsinki Design Week and the
Association of Designers in Madrid, DIMAD. This cultural export
project, which is supported by the Ministry of Education in Finland, is
this year's most significant cultural effort. The curators of the
exhibition are Mr Kari Korkman from Helsinki Design Week, Ms Laura
Sarvilinna from Huippu Design Management and architect Pedro Feduchi
from Madrid.

NOUNOU DESIGN AT HABITARE DESIGN FAIR
Nounou Design / Anu Penttinen took part in the Habitare
Fair in Helsinki for the third time. This year Nounou launched a new
'art product' called CITY PLAN, a concept that makes creating wall art
for public and private spaces easy and exciting. The glass relief
consists of several sizes of glass blocks with magnetic backing. These
will be available in a wide variety of vibrant opaque colours, and can
be purchased one by one or as a set, or alternatively a custom piece
can be designed in collaboration with the client.

ETHIC DESIGNS MADE IN SOUTH AFRICA
Nounou Design in
collaboration with MUMs/Outi Puro
(Finland) and Mielie (South Africa) has launched new designs for the
existing handbags and shoppers. These bags are handmade in Cape Town,
South Africa, using locally produced materials and a special weaving
technique. The fabric of the range is reclaimed, and the employment
created at Mielie is sustainable, allowing the craft people to work
